Brīdis pirms Latvijai nozīmīgas dienas: 19.janvārī Daugavpils Valsts ģimnāzijā ciemojās 2 viesi - Juris Bļodnieks ar 70 minūšu dokumentālo autorfilmu 'Valiant!' par latviešu jauniešiem Rietumos aukstā kara laikā un par to, kā viņi, pat nekad nebūdami Latvijā, organizēja vērienīgas pretpadomju demonstrācijas un akcijas. Šī filma spilgti parāda, ka jaunieši jebkurā laikā un jebkuros apstākļos spēj apvienoties un panākt, lai viņu balss tiktu sadzirdēta, ja viņu sirdis ir īstajā vietā. Stāsts ģimnāzistus aizrāva jauniešus un lika padomāt par brīvības cenu mūsdienās.
Nils Students, Zemessardzes kaprālis, uzņēmējs un brīvprātīgā darba veicējs, caur diskusiju balstītu stundu deva ieskatu Latvijas sarežģītajā vēsturiskajā ceļā uz neatkarību un drošību. Skolēni tika aktīvi iesaistīti, veicinot kopīgu izpratni ne tikai par to, kā, bet arī -kāpēc dalība NATO ir vitāli svarīgs drošības garants un grūti izcīnīta privilēģija, kas nebija pieejama iepriekšējām latviešu paaudzēm. Lekcijas noslēgumā dalībnieki ieguva dziļāku izpratni par to, kā Latvijas pašreizējā drošības vide būtiski atšķiras no viņu vecāku un vecvecāku pieredzētās.

This movie was another example that people should not give up on their ideas and keep doing what they need and want but only if it is appropriate and does not harm others.This move showed me a different perspective on the USSR regime, because in school we mostly focused on the people who were in Latvia at that time, not outside of it. I never knew that the people in the USA protested in such ways.Overall, the movie is a great picture of how hard people fought for an idea and dream of a nation, and how much a person can do to achieve goals (and about achieving goals together in general), and I would definitely recommend it as a good entertainment or educational material.There was a lot of new things that I learned. I had never thought of how Latvians outside of our country fought for our independence. They had the opportunity that people in Latvia did not have and they used it. After the meeting I understood that it was even more difficult than I had thought to become independent, and without so many voices we would have not been heard or seen.This meeting showed us as school students, what it was really like to fight for our countries freedom. The video also illustrated that even if you are far away you you as a person can still help, every voice counts, every action also.
